You may be asked to Identify either the brake fluid reservoir, the engine coolant tank, the engine oil dipstick or the screenwash bottle.

Brake Fluid Level

 

The brake fluid is located at the back of the engine compartment and has a cap with a yellow symbol on it .

To check the brake fluid level just look on the side of the bottle and make sure that the level is between the minimum and maximum markings.

 

 

 

Engine Coolant Level

 

Engine coolant is also situated at the back of the engine, next to the brake fluid. It is the one with a black cap on it.Again check the level is between min and max. If the engine is hot you may find it is over the max. This is ok as it is just due to expansion. Take care if you need to top it up, you must wait until it cools before removing the cap as the coolant will be under pressure when it is hot.

Also if you find that you are having to top up your engine coolant , this would suggest that there is another problem, either a coolant leak or an engine fault, you should get this checked out before further damage is caused.

 

Engine Oil Level

Check your oil level with the dipstick, on the Fiesta it is located in the centre of the engine compartment, it is yellow. Check the level by removing the dip stick and wiping it. Then re insert the dipstick and remove it to see where on the dipstick the oil is. The oil should be somewhere in between the two notches on the dipstick. If it needs topping up then put some of the correct grade oil in through the cap which is next to the dipstick. Make sure not to  put in too much oil, as this can often cause as much damage than too little oil.

 

 

Screen Wash

 

The screenwash container is located at the front of the engine compartment. There is no minimum or maximum markings, as the bottle is out of sight. However by taking off the cap it is possible to see if the bottle is full.

Always keep this bottle topped up.
